At Aesthetic Prosthetics Inc.® we work with our clients in person at our facility located in Pasadena, California. Amputations differ from person-to-person; therefore, every prosthesis is custom made for each individual client. Our standard for each prosthetic device includes a custom fit while matching individual skin tone and features. During the process of fabrication, we ask for ongoing feedback from our clients in order to ensure optimal fit, function, and realism.
In order to create realistic looking prostheses, it is critical to determine one’s unique skin colors, while noting fluctuations that result from changes in time and temperature. The color choices are reconfirmed with test paintings in subsequent visits and each prosthetic sculpture is detailed using our clients skin as a reference right down to the smallest details, including fingerprints, moles, veins, wrinkles, and body hair.
This is truly a unique, one-of-a-kind process which is the antithesis of getting a prosthesis “out of a box” or “off the shelf.” Working with individuals who have experienced any kind of amputation is our greatest honor, and our goal is to provide hope and restoration to the clients we are fortunate enough to serve.

Stefan Knauss, MAMS,CPO
Owner/Lead Prosthetist
Stefan is the co-owner of Aesthetic Prosthetics Inc® and a Prosthetist. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Occidental College and studied at the Art Center College of Design. He has a Masters degree of Associated Medical Sciences from the Craniofacial Center in the Department of Maxillofacial Prosthetics at the University of Illinois in Chicago. He also studied prosthetics and orthotics at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. Stefan is certified in prosthetics and orthotics by the American Board of Certifications for Prosthetics and Orthotics.
Beth Knauss, MA, OTR/L
Owner/Office Manager
Beth is the co-owner and office manager of Aesthetic Prosthetics inc ®. She has a Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California. Beth has worked in a variety of rehabilitation settings including hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, schools, home health and private practice.
Rachel Chang
Medical Artist
Rachel is a medical artist at Aesthetic Prosthetics Inc®. Her artistic background comes from Laguna College of Art + Design (LCAD), where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and an emphasis in sculpture. She also currently teaches classes and workshops at LCAD and various studio locations.
Mason Trager
Medical Artist/Anaplastologist
Mason is an artist and anaplastologist at Aesthetic Prosthetics Inc ®. He attended Otis College of Art and Design, majoring in digital media and sculpture. Mason worked for several years in the film and digital industry focusing on character creation using lifelike human forms. He has worked many years at Aesthetic Prosthetics and is fully dedicated to patient-centered anaplastology, combining artistic precision with compassionate care.
Cherise Masuda, MS
Medical Artist/Anaplastologist
Cherise is an artist and Anaplastologist at Aesthetic Prosthetics. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology Exercise Science and completed the Biomedical Illustration Prep Certificate Program at Cal State University, Long Beach. She graduated from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in the new Master of Science graduate program in Clinical Anaplastology. Through the graduate program she has become passionate about working with patients who need facial and somatic prostheses.
Joanna Mendoza
Medical Artist/Client Service
Joanna works as a medical artist and in client services at Aesthetic Prosthetics Inc®. She earned a Fine Arts degree from California State University, Fullerton. Joanna has many years of front office experience working at a dental practice. Her artistic background and patient-focused approach contribute to the high level of care and attention to detail that our practice provides.

Aesthetic Prosthetics Inc.® founder, Stefan Knauss, began working in the field of prosthetics and orthotics with the view that prostheses should fit well, restore function, and look genuinely realistic. It soon became apparent to him that realism was not a concern of conventional prosthetic practices. He started his own company in 1999 to create a new benchmark of high quality and service.
