This client takes pride in looking feminine in her male-dominated workplace. These sparkling shell acrylic tips are her signature color. This type of a request was a first for us and a fun challenge. She brought in the matching acrylic powder and it worked out great – happy nails!

We’ve Got To Hand it to You

Every client should have personal goals for what they hope their prosthesis will do for them; restore appearances, help them to avoid intrusive questions, or get back to their favorite sport. In this case, the client wanted to regain basic functions like holding keys and being able to shake hands again. This client didn’t have the desire to have a highly realistic hand or something myo-electric. He wanted something simple and straightforward to make his hand look whole again. A single color, custom made, utility partial hand made from highly durable silicone rubber was the solution for him.

Put A Ring On It

This client has been married for years. However, this is the first time she’s had a left hand to place her engagement ring on. She even brought her ring in so we could custom sculpt her ring finger to make sure it fit! We are happy to take special requests and make accommodations to fulfill our clients wishes.

Life Changes Built to Last

The typical lifespan for the pieces we create is between two to five years. Much like shoes, different people wear through their pieces at varied paces. This client- pictured wearing his latest piece- wore his first prosthetic hand from us for a whopping twelve years! His original piece was still in relatively good condition. Though, in time, his remaining arm had changed and the piece no longer fit well. Although we can’t guarantee the lifespan of a specific piece, it’s encouraging to hear about cases like this.

The Pleasure and Privilege is Ours

It is a rare privilege to be able to share one of our clients faces. After all, many of our clients seek out our work to avoid drawing attention to their differences. When this client suffered an amputation to her right pinky finger, she was determined to find purpose in her loss. She has shared her journey of pain, struggle, growth and healing with friends, family and through social media in hopes to normalize her experience with amputation. Throughout her appointments, she faithfully documented the process of having her prosthesis made, and as the photo proves, brightened the room with her fabulous personality and great smile! Thank you, Jessica!

From Practical to Extraordinary

We’ve had the pleasure of making this client two realistic prosthetic partial hands since 2010. As a carpenter, he has realized over time that he no longer needs a realistic hand under his glove while at work. This time, he requested we make him a custom sculpted utility hand from High Consistency Rubber (HCR). HCR is an extremely durable platinum silicone that we sculpt by hand with no molds. By using his utility prosthetic hand at work and keeping his realistic prosthesis for evenings and days off, he can extend the life of both pieces.

Whether a client wants an exceptionally realistic prosthesis or something a bit more simple and task oriented, we are happy to provide our clients with the full range of options and are open to changes should those needs evolve over time.
